    on the tire

Great article Will, I'm one that actually loves the blown set-up and also
think it takes some talent to leave, shift and drive instead of mashing the
gas pedal. ;) Headed to Monkeytown to watch run what ya brung real
racing ADRL. Hoping this trip will help us decide what we wanna race.:D
ADRL needs a class for dragsters and line em up!!:)

Very good reading Will . Let the dragsters have the C blower and keep the AF/C's running the D since there is no issues with them .

    $ vs $

What would be an E.T. prediction if someone would try a legal alcohol funny car motor in an alcohol dragster ? Wouldn't it be less expensive than putting more pressure on every other parts in a current motor ?

    just my tought.

like always , a very good article by Will.

ok, by lowering the weight break so they can go up to 526ci without adding weight.

    No big engines

    BAD BAD,
If you'll notice, most of the top TA/FC teams have been building smaller motors to run better. It's easier to make boost. Boost kicks cubic inches butt most of the time. One of the best out there runs 470 cubic inches now.
Besides, to build any bigger than around 490" engines without giving away our current short deck block and buying new ones is not practical (excessive rod angle).
What we need is an auxiliary rocket booster unit.

    Have a great day,
    Marty

    Hey Guy

How's things without a race car? Looks like you got out late, but not too late.
Did you mean you're rod angle problem straightened out after you got married?

    Take care Buddy,
    Marty

    thank you

It's just that one day I wish I'll be able to join the TAD class with all of you . Right now I have a very good car (Duane Shields 2003 Hadman) but no motor .

And with all the talk about possible rules changes or to let the blown cars suffer..., I just try to keep informed about what might be the right combo for the future.

Also I find you all very dedicated to your class .

Marty ask Steve Boggs how much more power a 526-540CI @125% would make over a 452? I bet it's more than you think.

In regards to Darren and BAD-B/AD's comments.... Would it be possible to gain boost by reducing the size of the intake runners or reduce the volume in the plnum of the intake? Or can boost only be gained by reducing volume inside the combustion chamber. It seems to me it would have to be reduced in the comb. chamber on a normally aspirated engine but not necessarily so on a blown engine.

    ?

I haven't got numbers on a 526" engin e at 125% O.D. but at the current TA/FC O.D. they make less than my small motor at 127 %. NHRA wanted to give us the F/C OD. Even with 127% OD on a 490 - 526 c.i. , I don't believe that it would be enough to catch the AF/D's, and I don't realyy have $100,000.00 to test that theory. It is a fact though that the fastest FC's aren't running real big engines anymore. As I said, Boost kicks C.I. butt.
Making the runner smaller will (usually) just bottle up the boost in the manifold giving you a higher boost reading on the computer/gauge but leass actual cylinder pressure. We have worked extensively on cylinder pressure (the bottom line in horsepower) with our blowers/valvetrain/heads with Steve Sanchez at Total Flow Products. The blown cars have trouble getting enough volume, not velocity.

    Have a great day,
    Marty

really, do you mean because they are hemi's, because thats about all a dragster motor has in common with a funny car motor in the alky classes.
