Hanna & Clack looking for 'gateway' to consistency in St. Louis

MADISON, Ill. - With the first half of their rookie season behind them, NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Will Hanna and Car Owner/Crew Chief Harry Clack will be looking for a fresh start to the second half during this weekend's Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at Gateway International Raceway just outside of St. Louis. Hanna and Clack enter the weekend hoping to build off a strong test outing three weeks ago.

Hanna, 27, of Richwood, Texas, is encouraged by the data collected in the two day test at Houston Raceway Park.

"We didn't set the world on fire, but we did find some much needed consistency," said Hanna. "We've lost so many runs and so much data this year to parts problems. We tried some new things in the test which are showing some promise. We feel like we have a decent baseline to go into St. Louis with and build from there. Getting a solid run in during the first session is probably our biggest goal right now. Consistency is definitely what we're after."

Clack feels the data from clean runs will be the key to the next level for the team.

"It's not about Sunday right now," stated Clack. "It's about making clean runs and collecting data. When we're putting down the big numbers, then it will be about Sunday. Right now, it's about learning and improving. We learned quite a bit in our test outing, so if we can learn as much as we did during that weekend, it will be a big step in the right direction for the team."

Qualifying begins on Friday for the alcohol cars with two more sessions on Saturday. Final eliminations will conclude the event on Sunday. Stay tuned to InsideTopAlcohol.com for the latest news in alcohol racing.
