Ya he will progress, but thats not because of him, thats because of his car and his boss. They have the parts and the paper. He should get a year of practice in, he did nothing but turn the wrenches last year, nothing that had to with driving. What year was it that he got his alcohol lisense?
even though he didnt burnout, doenst mean that he has a bad reaction time. I think he just fell asleep at the line.

By the way, I like Eric, I think it was a good choice for John to choose from "family", I just think they should have started out slower. No hard feelings or anything to John or Eric.

    Colin,

I'm no expert by any means, but unexpected changes in routine during a run can throw any driver off. I agree with Dean, I think that he will finish ahead of Tony.

I don't think he just fell asleep at the line. I think he was rattled by the fact of who he was racing. Next time he lines up agaisnt Tony I think he will do a lot better. And burn outs are hard to get down. If he has a week spot I think it his burn out's. I my self think Tony will beat him in the points this year just my 2cents. And Randy 5.55 what can you say way to go!!

i'm not an experienced nitro pilot, nor experienced alky pilot. but i am an experienced bracket racer that has won my fair share of races, and i'm here to tell ya, on every level, drivers still can have brain farts.

eric not only went thru frank's program, but he made alot of passes in the school car. i dont know how many alot is, but they said he got comfortable with the car.

would it had been better for him to get a year or two in alky, probably. but i think he's doing great. i really think he did a good job on that pedaling job. probably his first time to really have to do it. he kept it shiny side up, and didnt just blaze them thru.

just watch, eric will be crackin asses before long.

Colin, until you have been around the sport a little more, you should not speak like have experience. I believe he made a number of top alky laps last year in TAD and TAFC and he made nitro FC laps last year. He did not fall asleep he was distracted for some reason. John Force had a bad light in round one and lost too.

Ya Randy that was a classic post wasn't it. Mi speeling has always bean baad. thou.

I am reading these topics and can't help but think what an outsider to the "art" of driving these cars must be thinking. "How hard can it be to leave on time and steer it straight down the lane." All you gotta do is ....... piece of cake!

    Of course we know better.

Dean, Im not tryin to say i have experience by any means, i no know the kind of pressure on a driver. Im just kind of dissappointed in a driver I was hoping would win it. I agree with you he will finish ahead of Tony, obviously not because of experience though. Tony is just starting out with this team, no one wins the championship theyre first year out with a new team.

Well colin I hate to break the bad news to you but Gary Scelzi won his first year. As for medlin I think he is doing a good job and is gaining experience evry time he steps behind the wheel. Who is to say what is right way break a driver in Del Worsham never drove an Alky car but I think he does a pretty good job of driving. Sure it would have been nice to see some other TAD or TAFC drivers have his job or one of the other jobs that were filled this year but it is easier said than done.

Del didn't drive an alky car, but he and his dad ran alky for years before they went to fuel. Remember Kenny Mooers?

But he still never drove an alky car. He seems to be doing just fine without the experience.

He didn't drive an alky car but grew up with them like Brad Littlefield. Standing behind one for a couple hundred runs gives you a lot of insight as to what to expect from these things before you ever get in one. Shake, peddaling, shifting, braking, burnout proceedures, starting the car, clutch in and out, etc. Brad has done a good job in dad's car and, after watching Mert as much as he has, he's seen it all, too.

I'll even go out on a limb and say that you are probably better off standing behind one and working on one as much as Brad has, then drive it...compared to someone who's driven a slower class car, then jumping into one. I remember when I jumped in my TA/FC after racing a gas altered several years. My first comment was that it was like I just went into a totally different sport. No comparison. And nothing I learned from the altered applied to driving the funny car except the times slip booth was still in the same location.

    JMHO

    Thanks for the compliments.

Tony probably couldn't drive a alcohol car now anyway, I'm sure it has been a while, and he forgot how busy they are. I bet he wants to take those comments back, he just lost control of his ego for a moment.

Randy- Doesn't that further go to show that Eric is going to do good? Afterall he has been working on the car that he now drives for quite some time. His Dad is the crew cheif for the dang car so I bet he has more knowledge of the mechanics of that car than anyone here on this site.

ok,I looked in my stats, and Eric has only ran 1 divisional in 3 years , (thats all I looked back to) it was in 2002 at the Las Vegas divisional where he qualified #10.

So, do you call that being a ex Alcohol racer ? Just asking.
