I knew if he got near a computer keyboard long enough we could catch him!! LMAO ;)

Of course, no one can can count his overdrive because he starts his car at the trailer when it is his turn to race. Then he just rolls up, races, and then hides it under a cover until the next round. :D

Steve and Ron also put an Afuel motor in the car at one point after the PSI deal was done...

    dan,
the boggs bros. ran a 604 cube hemi with nitro, and nitrous. they never got it to run as good as the blower did though. then the next season NHRA changed the minimum wheelbase to like 200". they stretched the car, and basically fought "the never ending NHRA rulebook battle." that is 1 fight that will never be won by the racers i think.
also, charlie gambino ran 6.30's in IHRA pro outlaw trim...hi-helix 14/71 blower. terry munroe ran 6.20's in the same trim. get this.....he ran an IRON chevy in that car. car went like 226 or so. super nice guy.

Hi guys. Great thread. I saw the Neal Parker 5.96 at Budds Creek. Here is our current list of the top 25 quickest alky altered passes (well, the Boggs' 6.10 was injected nitro, as mentioned earlier). bp

    first hand

I run a blown alky t bucket for my family that has run 6.70 with a Donovan!!! with an 8-71 and a lenco 3 speed. I've been there to watch Neal go in the 5's. I used to tell him to clean his parachutes, he'd ask why, and I would say it's the damn thing I got to see of him. He would be side to side and all over and still go 6.20's. I'd just plug high gear and watch him just drive away, that damn car was so impressive! So yes, he is the fastest alky altered that I know of. Gee, if Manzo would just let me borrow his set up for just a few runs...hmmmm.

Will, when Mike Troxell had his PSI come apart in Phx back in '88-89? I heard he was running a small motor (421-430?) at 130%OD. He broke a Sprague and his Motor went to 13,000+! That case disentrigrated, they walked that track forever. That was it for PSI for nearly 4 years!

    Altered.

Danny Roman in IHRA Super Eliminator ran 6.50's @ 220+ MPH.

This was with a Big Chief Headed Donovan with a 10-71 Standard Helix.

THis was before they allowed the 14-71 Hi-Helix in the class.

I was there that day at Firebird many years ago when Troxel killed that PSI. We were in the aluminum grandstands on the pit side and you could hear the pieces hitting the stands. The one piece we didnt hear was the one the hit my younger brother in the shoulder. He was lucky the piece hit him flat not on edge. Still hurt like hell but no blood. Sucked to be my brother that day :D

Like you I was standing in the pit stands. I was taking video of the alcohol sessions and like an idiot I kept taping even as the crap was hitting the stands and the plywood signs along the fence. But I got it on tape start to finish - it was UGLY!

My father and I here about a year ago sold our whipple off of our Ba5, and bought a Littlefield 14-71 and had Davey Uyehara put a 23-t on our fc. We had enought of trying blow our stuff up. Now we just match race and this last year has been the best year of drag racing that we have had. At the oldies but goodies in Boise we ran a 6.44 at 224 mph with everything in one piece, I love it :)

Thanks for the info, Bob (AKA International Chassis Superstar)... lots of great runs mentioned here. Teams, make sure they are all captured on the drag lists...

From the other thread (top alky FCs), we've had a good 200 updates over the past few days. GREAT! We are getting lots of great info and pics. Thanks, guys. bp

In 1977 Ron Boggs had the fastest Alcohol Alter in the country with a 6.76 at 202.70 MPH with a 417 Donovan, He did that at the Us Nationals . There is article in a 1977 drag racing magazine. Ron Sold the car then Ace Manzo took the title in 78

My alcohol altered went 6.663 @198.89 with no wings at the Mission Loafers event in 1993 and later that year went 203.06 with a rear wing. It was 4.319/170.64 to the eighth mile.
It had a Veney head 526 KB with standard rotor 1471 at 1.48 overdrive and a 3 spd lenco.
It was a 120 inch wheel base car and when the NHRA made the rules change to 150 inch minimum so that the Boggs' could not run in alcohol dragster, I did the same thing they did and stretched the front end, in my case to 151", I'm not sure how long they went.
In any case it was a very quick ride back in the day and was an absolute blast to drive.

Not sure if it's his quickest lap ever, but Rodney Rosenstiel ran 6.34 in AA/AM at the Gainesville points race this past weekend and that class is restricted to 14-71 normal helix.
