Last summer I blew a burst panel when the Mallory ignition coil terminal arced, kind of like the insulation around the terminal "stopped" insulating.

I'd look for carbon arc marks.

    Cam gear bolts?

Thinking a few years back on our roots TAD deal. We had very similar things going on for a couple events. All the bolts holding the camshaft gear onto the hub had loosened and the timing was moving enough to pop the panel and throw the belt, every run. Just one more thing to put on the "to check" list.

Talked to a friend and he said that those old fuel heads were bad about clipping the valves together at high rpms in a blown alcohol deal. On a fuel car they never turned them up like we do. If they touched it would send combustion gases into the intake and pop it.

    @ jody stroud

Wouldn't that only be the case when running a moden alcohol cam? The cam i have in it is the same that was in it when the engine ran as a fuel engine.

usually only 8000 we tried setting the rev limiter to 9000 just to make sure it wasn't hitting it but it still popped the panel.
