Need suggestions

There's a Veney long block on the classifieds for $12500 right now. There are plenty of other deals out there on older cast blocks, older heads, rockers, etc., that you can get a pretty nice combo that will handle a lot of abuse fairly cheap.

Used to be alot of racers would get old fuel heads and run that combo because you could find them so cheap. However in the past few years, there is so much fat head stuff out there i would tend to go in that direction.

What I meant by 'truck motor' is that you are running a motor design that was not designed for racing. By buying a hemi, you're getting components that are proven to work in the application. I know there's beefed up BBC stuff out there.

Whatever your budget is, dollar for dollar, you will be able to build a stronger motor that can handle and capable of making more power than the same money will buy in a BBC.
