Don't think it has anything to do with gender. More like $$$$$$$.00
I always enveyed many of the big rigs the S/C racers had. Now I'm scared
they will all deside to go real drag racing!

    hmmm

I wouldn't say that Im offended someone thinks all we do is "stab and steer", but I will say that makes it look a lot easier. Sure you CAN race by just stabbing and steering, but there are a lot of elements in S/C that affects the race, even more so than the pro categories because we can lose by getting to the line first. You need to study where your opponent should be at certain points on the track, you need to have the mental backbone to know when to take the stripe and when not to, you can learn to watch the stage lights to see who left first (if your eyes are quick enough) so you can add that info instantly to where your car should be with respect to your opponent. Just a few big ones...

As for us S/C racers going "real racing"... well what do you expect? Us to wait around with all our money tied in this class for NHRA to drop the class... I doubt S/C will last another 10 years, but thats just my opinion.

I guess that I should clarify...

In a Super Comp car after you stage you STAB the throttle. After the green you steer the car.

In an Afuel Car you STAB the throttle and steer after the green...

Now if she was going to drive a real Top Alcohol Dragster (ie. Blown on Alky w/ a transmission) like your father did back in the day Jason she would need to pre stage, bring up to stage RPM, roll in to stage, at the flash of yellow swap feet, steer and shift twice...

    Get the point...

    Bob,

I dont think you'll have to worry about too many of the Super Class racers jumping up into the alky ranks. ALot of those big rigs you see have payments, big ones at that. Just because one can make big monthly payments on a rig and a trailer, doesnt mean they can afford to drop a minimum of 75-100k a year to field a decent alcohol car. Thats after you have bought and paid for all of the equipment just to get started.

    Dan,

It still takes a bit more than just stabbing and steering an A-Fuel car. Ya gotta have enough sense to know when to grab the brake if the thing is going to spin or shake the tires and know when a hole or two are out to lift. Granted there isnt quite as much to do compared to a blown alcohol car, A-Fuelers still arent easy to drive. If they were ( and cheap ) all of us super class licensed stabbers would be driving em

    Hey Jason,

    Welcome to the board!

    Go' Lindsey!!!

To fill some of you guy's in, Lindsey Woods has earned her right to be where she's at, she started off in Jr.Dragster and with the help of her talented father,Roland Woods, and her dedicated family, they broke nearly all records in that class and were always an inavator designing and building new and more powerful engines from scratch! They would always lend a hand to anyone (including me as a newbie in the class) and promoted it to the fullest. They have a son that has been instumental to all the R&D work for CSR, one of the leading parts inventors and suppliers for fast doorslammers and dragsters!!
Lindsey has since cut her teeth in Super Comp the last several years and I believe won at least one National and several divisional events, plus many local races in the southeast!! They are a dedicated team in every thing they do weather it's R&D on new parts or competition or just helping a fellow racer win a race! I have never met a more dedicated family that supports all of dragracing!
Lindsey will do good in whatever she does because she has drag racing in her heart, and doesn't let anything get between her and the win light!
I'm sure it will be a variation af the darien and woods team with who ever they can find to help put it all together, but one thing is for sure she will get the job done! I do believe that we are in a time in racing where women drag racers are coming into their element and you will see more and more young women exel in this sport!

last year at the divisional race's at atlanta and reynolds....Lindsay Woods was driving a small block powered grand am in top sportsman running some 7 second passes. I think she made it to the semis in top sportsman at atlanta too. I think she's got what it takes.

Well the name on the entry list for Pomona now reads Chris Perl. No idea who that is but he must be driving Darien's car at least for the Winters.

    2 cars

latest word i'm getting is that lindsay will drive a primarily east coast schedule with one of jerry's cars while chris perl will drive at least pomona in the car ashley drove last year.

in regards to pro stock, i wouldn't doubt this as i remember her saying pro stock was one of her goals in an on the run column she did a couple years ago.
