Had some chassis problem this year and ever made a full run, However we ran alot of low 5.40 run @250plus.WE shfit are car at 10,200 and the rev limiter is set at 10,800.You can kick all type of rods out on the big end. BUT what suck is then you kick the rods out in first part of the track.

Now that the GRP advertisement is done, Are there any other real cost estimations on the complete package of attrition per run ? with or with out crew pay . Every one must have a dollar figure
established ?? or maybe not ??
Will , did TARA ever present or petition for increased payouts based on any member polling ?

In TA/FC it's about $1,300-$1,500 per run with no major catastrophies and not paying the crew. Guys like Jay would probably laugh at this figure.

Mind you we are a way low buck team. We run fat and happy. In the last two years of running we have only killed one piston. The bigest thing we found to keep cost down is replacing the the wear parts before the leave the motor without taking off the pan. 16 runs to rods, checking brg. every run, valve springs when they loose %15, lube the pushrods every run, check the pistons around the wrist pin after each week out and after if we shake the tires. But at track cost is only part of the story. I luckly or maybe not, have a CPA for a wife, she has worked it out to about $ 678.32 in parts a run over a year with all the mainantce. Now if you figure all the cost running a team it is 2X's to 3X's that. Not counting our new toter we spent $ 1395.02 a run

    Thanks
    Bob

remember dragsters have no stroke (no rod angle)makes a huge difference in big end life!!

Most of the guys that answered my question are dragster guys. Obviously the dragsters are going to have a longer life considering the lighter piston, smaller stroke etc... What about the funny cars? It is my understanding that most of them run around 525 ci motors, do they have the same results as the dragsters?

It's not the rod angle that's hard on parts it's piston speed. Longer stroke engines like funny cars with over 4" of stroke have significantly faster piston speeds which multiplies the weight at the end of the rod.

I don't think it's so much as volunteering, it's more like a junkie getting his/her fix!!! LOL. God help us if we got paid too!
