I hope that you can get your new trailer finished. I live only 20 minutes East of NRP and it has been raining non-stop since Friday. Hopefully your Quarter Pounder Dodge Avenger Top Alcohol Funny Car will be there laying down some low six second passes for the thousands of fans in attendance. Good Luck!

That's great to hear Kevin and Good Luck! Will you be the only one competing with an engine combination other than a HEMI?

I talked to Bill Jr. before I started announcing on Saturday over the PA and he had told me that the drivers are UDRA racers. From the way he told me I believe that it is a 16 car field.

The Funny Car Fox Hunt / Jet Car Nationals was quite interesting because of water seeping up on the track at the 1/8th mile transition from concrete to black top. Several Super 16 car came close to crashing so all eliminations were switched to 1/8th mile format. During the one and only qualifying session for the Top Alcohol Funny Cars Parma Ohio's Joe Comella was on a great lap but kept moving right (while NEVER lifiting) and he side swiped the concrete wall pretty hard and rode against the wall well into the shut down area. Joe was alright but the car is probably junk. Many people were saying that the track was at fault but the problem area wasn't until the 1/8th mile and his cousin Mike had ran around a 4.05 in the same lane right before him. James Boos and I were sitting in the stands and could tell that it was not the tracks fault. Joe should have lifted but didn't. Even though Joe hit the wall hard around 400 ft. out he still ran in the 4.0's. The four fastest qualifiers were Todd Veney, Mike Comella, Mike Etter, and Jody Gucwa. Todd Veney defeated a multiple cone hitting Mike Etter and Mike Comella defeated Jody Gucwa. In the Final it was Mike Comella running a blistering 3.84 to defeat Todd Veney's 4.05. Todd had a soft tune up in the car since it was a brand new Murf McKinney funny car and it was also the first time that he has been to an event since the 2005 Atlanta NHRA race. The long distance award winner in Top Alcohol Funny Car was Charlie Gambino all the way from West Palm Beach, Florida.
