What is the norm for installing these?

Does a guy drill the cylinder head to .563" and pound them in or is it more sensitive to the diameter which means it needs to be piloted reamed?

I assume no counter boring needs to happen?

there is a special tool arp has that spot faces and reams the holes to the size of the insert for a good fit.We install with a little loctite to make sure they move around much. now the tool is a drill bit that has been ground to pilot ream and spot face all in one step you have to machine .125 deeper than original spot face to use the head stud washers with the inserts have seen some not do this and not using the washer seems like the nut galls not giving correct torque to fastners. we have used them for 10 years with no problems thanks Darrin

I thought the point was to get rid of the washer, at least that's why I wanted to do it?

If you have these inserts in your heads, can you reply to let me know if you use the washers also?

    inserts

We run washers with the inserts cause it gives a stronger area below the washer than a cast head does. Darrin

When we put the turbo motor together with the SR-20 heads, space limitations didn't allow the use of washers. After talking to Brodix, ARP, and Dave Visner, I am comfortable with no washers, for what it is worth. JW
