    Interesting article, it doesn't say which NGK plugs they are counterfeiting. I would say the most obvious indicators would be the unevenly spaced NGK letters on the porcelain, the gasket that can drop off the threads (never seen that happen on a NGK plug) and the center electrode color not being silver but being iron color on the fake plugs.

    Yes they will get hot, depending on the rpm and air flow across the bottom plate. Remember these were designed for dragsters and funny cars in which run time is very short (approx 3 minutes) and they have lots of airflow at 300mph. I think about 5 min max, you can add an aluminum heat sink with heat sink grease to the bottom plate to get more time if needed.
    The generators can also over heat about 7 min max.
