You're right if he's running a fuel head. That's a big chambered head and will need quite a bit more than the alcohol fat heads.
Hard to know everything about your tune up, but if you are running a 44 amp mag with the BAE 4 fat heads, I would run it at 24 degrees.

I doubt it since they are not legal for NHRA use. I have seen 2 cars get sent home because they had them on their SBC and BBC.
On a BAE V head hemi we looked for 600-650 egt temps at stage... We varied the head temp depending on how good the track was.
This is common with some brands of springs. Some go as far as clipping them off when new.
I cut and welded 2 wrenches together to tighten both nuts on an RCD billet pistol grip type idler assm for BAE. Just one less wrench to grab....
