Could be the snout on the converter isn't concentric with the pilot .
I always indicate the converter snout and find the truest position then match mark one ear of the converter and flexplate so you bolt it back in...

I have to agree with Mike that a hard 90* will cause a restriction in flow but as long as after the 90* it flows more than the nozzle it's feeding...

I have been using the CSR units from Snyder and have had zero problems.
I have had one go bad and I was told that it got run too long and overheated it.
It's not an air servo or solenod problem is it ?
It's very easy to check , plug one side and put a gauge on the other, then switch it .
Snyder sells a split regulator to do exactly that.
