I just got my new combo out to the track this last weekend and fairly happy with the initial performance from a 3700 lb street car but the 60' seems a little soft for the 1/8 mile et and mph , it's a conventional headed BBC with a 14/71 huh retro with a 5-9/16 bau and a 13.2 gpm pump , I'm leaving on the two step set at 4300 rpm , it has a 33" tall tire 4.11 rear gear with a powerglide with a 1.80 first gear . Even though it doesn't seem loaded up coming of the trans. Brake I'm wondering if a fuel bypass would help while on the two step? I know there's more left in tuning as I'm just getting started but it only had a 1.26 60' and a 5.00 1/8 mile at 146 mph, and it's 3745 lbs , what do you think about the bypass on the two step?

We need to know fuel flow on the 2 step. Also egts would help. Good starting spot would be 6.0 to 6.3 gallons on the 2 step. Under 5.5 gets mean on the 2 step.

I don't have a flow meter on the car but EGTs were between 880 and 950

    Not
not sure of the accuracy of those temps I'm wondering if it's so rich that I may be building a header fire , all my EGT probes are approximately 2" from the head but my hottest reading plug no. 1 is not even burning any cad off the plug at all and its 1200 deg. On the EGT and some of the colder cyl. Are barely starting to burn some cad.

Not the hottest plug but hottest EGT.

880 to 900 is close. I like 825 on the two step but you are close and wouldn't worry about it. EGTs are not that accurate. The bad 60fts maybe because of the converter and engine right at launch. I like to see the engine flash up high so you are getting boast and power before the converter locks up. If it doesn't flash up the your 60fts are going to be slow. You should have the engine flashing to 6000-6500 before it goes over.

Ya my convertor is pretty tight not sure if I could get that much out of it I have the two step set at 4300 right now and with the weight and a 1.80 first gear it might not ever get into low 1.20s or teens on the 60' , but thanks for all your input I appreciate it , at least I have a baseline.

You can always try lowering the two step rpm to see if it will flash higher.
