The blower belt is the damper….

so how long could I safely run without it?

The guy helping me with my Haltech box tells me to put a 4 magnet MSD wheel on but then doesn’t know how to set the box up for it. I know it’s dropping timing as it revs. And they have a table for that. But the only way to know for sure that the table is right is to wind it up to the high side with a timing light on it. That would be a bunch easier without the blower belt on. But would that beat the bearings out of it?

The blowers are too tight to let enough air in for the motor to run. Roots are tighter than screw blowers

Nope. Not true at all. This blower is loose, but im not sure that even matters. The motor will spin the blower Without the belt on. I know that for a fact because I accidentally started it with the belt off and it revved up well over 2k with the blades shut before I could get to the kill switch. The blower pulley was spinning almost as fast as the motor.

I’m just concerned about hurting a bearing without the damper on.
