Thacker Ready to Regroup After Semi-final Loss in Bristol

Marty Thacker and the Rapid Transit Race Team were in Bristol, Tennessee this past weekend participating in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 2 event.

Thacker who won earlier this month at Mid-Michigan Motorplex was disappointed in the semi-final loss. “I didn't perform as well as I would have liked this weekend. With all the support that Evan, Brian, and the entire TORCO organization have given us this year, we should do better than we did. It's disappointing when you don’t perform to the best of your ability. We just want to make them proud of this TORCO Racing Fuels TA/D," commented Thacker.

Thacker qualified in the #2 position with a 5.54 at 258.76, almost an entire tenth ahead of the rest of the cars in the field. First round, Thacker advanced running a 5.61 at 256.94 mph. In the second round Thacker shook the tires hard and ran a losing 5.69 at 251.91.

"We were a little short handed this weekend, and with the hot weather conditions and a tricky track, I wasn't cautious enough in the tune-up area. We went down the track pretty decent in qualifying and again in the 1st round, but overpowered the track in the 2nd round. When the car began to shake it turned a little to the left. By the time I straightened it back out I was spinning in the marbles along the centerline. We make enough horsepower that the thin air doesn't kill us, but when the track gets hot along with it, we have to tiptoe through the first two gears. The only way I know to make amends is to go out and win the next event. That's now my next goal."

The Rapid Transit Race Team will be attending the Division 3 event in Cleves, Ohio at Edgewater Sports Park August 5th thru the 7th for their next event.
