Thacker to Debut New Dragster at Gatornationals

The Rapid Transit Race Team will be in Gainesville, Florida this weekend to open their 2006 season at the Gatornationals. The Team, backed by TORCO Racing Fuels and Atlantic Industrial, will be debuting their brand new Spitzer chassis Top Alcohol dragster.

In 2005, the dragster, driven by Marty Thacker, finished 5th in the POWERade points standings for the second time in three years. The team earned their first Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Championship and although they were pleased with their performance, the celebration was short lived. As soon as the season ended last October, they began working on ways to maintain their competitive advantage in the extremely competitive Top Alcohol Dragster class.

“We are so excited get the new season underway. All winter we have been working hard to improve our program and looking forward to this weekend,” stated Thacker. “We could not be happier to have the backing of TORCO Racing Fuels and Atlantic Industrial again this season. Without the support of Evan, Brian, Latrell and all the gang at TORCO and Atlantic Industrial we wouldn’t be able to be out here living out our dreams.”

“Last week we had the opportunity to attend the Eastern Spring Test Nationals and try to work some of the bugs out of the new chassis. Hopefully, this weekend we will get this season started off right and put on a good show for the Gainesville fans and our fine sponsors.”

Qualifying will begin on Friday afternoon at 1:30 PM and continue Friday night with the second pass scheduled for 5:00 PM. Saturday qualifying resumes at 1:30 and first round of eliminations will be held at 5:00 that evening.
