Wilson Racing looking to continue upswing at Route 66

Winfield, Mo - This past NHRA / Powerade National event at the Heartland Park in Topeka, KS. was the first National Event this year for the NHRA Division 3 Top Alcohol Funny Car of Jeff Wilson.

Wilson, from Winfield, Mo., was very pleased after qualifying 14th with a 5.87 with an all new combination and they ran a 5.88 and lost to the eventual event winner 1st round, but the positive side is that they were very consistent all weekend.. "Spitzer Race Cars made a few changes that allowed me to be more comfortable in the car with better visiabilty and believe me, that is important. We seem to have found a combination that works with this new Funny Car even thought this weekend may give us all together different weather conditions. ". stated Wilson.

"We are very happy to have finally discovered a combination we feel comfortable with." stated Wilson "We would rather have solved the problems prior to the beginning of the season and not have started the 2006 season struggling, but we are finally headed in the right direction and that is straight down track."

Wilson Racing is already preparing for this weekends race in Joliet, IL at Route 66 just outside of Chicago. "We really want and need to have a good weekend. We have a very good team and we are fortunate enough to have won several championships. We have made the decision to compete in Funny Car for 2006 and the change has been very rough on all of us, but because of the continuity and equal parity we feel that this is what is in the best interest of our Team and sponsors". stated Wilson.

"We are fortunate enough to have a great group of sponsors that support us week after week and with their help we to be back in the winners circle once again," commented Wilson. (STARCON, Spitzer Race Cars and Composites, Scott Shop Towels, NGK Spark Plugs, American Colorscans Commercial Graphics, Jacklyn Gebhardt Trailer Sales, Frank Weiss Racing Components, Goodridge USA, IRON Clad Glove Company, Mark Williams ent., Lucas Oil and Scott Mack Designs.) "We look forward to putting our team back in the winner's circle again and making our sponsors proud to be involved with our team." stated Wilson.
