GIVE ME SOME PROS AND CONS OF A BIG BOY,THINKING A DOUBLE SPRAG, VS A LENCO. THE b&J IS A NICE LOOKING PIECE,HOWS IT HOLD UP? HOWS THE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH? PRICE SEEMS COMPARABLE. IT'S A NEW CAR SO MOUNTING WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM. THANKS FOR ANY INPUT HERE

I don't know much about Lenco, but Mike Strasburg is great to deal with at B & J and can help you with any of your questions. He can even help you with alot of the other parts that you will need as well (i.e. shifters, clutch parts, etc.)

Yes I Spoke To Mike, Seems Like A Nice Guy To Deal With. But I'm Looking For Someone Who's Run Both Transmissions And Can Give Me Some Pros Cons About Either, As I Know Nothing About The B&j Except A Lotta Funny Cars Run Them,

One difference is B & j takes 400 psi to work and the Lenco takes 250 psi. The main reason our team went with a lenco is availability of parts at the track.

    B&j

John Zappia has run 5.967 in Top Doorslammer and uses a B&J. He thinks they are the trans to use.

we have ran both in our cars. for what you are going to do they will both hold up the same. but, as far as parts availability at the track.....lenco gets the nod. as far as parts breakage goes with either trans, it isn't something you really have to worry about. keep a good maintenence program, and you will be fine with either. both are virtually bullet-proof with the right maintenence. you can get anything you would need for either trans in 2 days.
we run a B&J in our car.........it's an older single sprag unit, and we have never had any problems with it. we have an altered that runs low 6's, works great for us.
    hope this helps

I have used both on a pro mod deal we ran and On my owm TAFC and pro mod. B&J is lighter in weight and shorter by a bunch . Also you can take it apart quicker and to change ratios is very easy. Both are bullet proof in all aspects with just the usual sprag maintenance.

But the B&J has a weak neutral (that you have to machine as B&J will explain) and will jam and break in between gears this can cost you a run!.

We do not use a neutral , and to load the car in the trailer we just pull the floater axles out.

I will keep using the B&J because it has less mass.

    Hope this help!

Thanks For The Replies,do You Run A Tranmission Mout Or A Slider Mount With The B&j ? The No Neutral Doesnt Seem Like A Big Deal, The Lenco Usually Dropped In Gear In The Trailer Anyways.

b&j also makes a trans with no neutral......that is what we have in our car. also, i forgot to mention that the b&j's reverser is kinda "touchy" make sure that you bring the car to a COMPLETE STOP before going into reverse. that is the only weak link with the b&j. with having no neutral, i just push in the clutch pedal to load our car.we use a piece of wood to hold it down.
    hope this helps,

We Don't use neither type of mount on it.
We mount it like a FC, solid engine and the transmission is mounted only to the bellhousing . A long time ago our TAD would break the cases because it had a mount to the chassis on the back of the reverser.
B&J doesn't build the transmission with a neutral, you have to machine it to their specs.. Also I don't like to use a cluth stop to load the car because IF you leave the car at the trailer for a long time it will eventually damage your cluth springs , also when you need to back the car out of the trailer you won't have to fight the clutch and transmission drag.

i have run both a cs1 lenco and a b&j in an alcohol dragster i still run the b&J it seems to be a little easier to work on and it is lighter and shorter, its much faster to change a ratio, they both did the same job never had any real problems with either but i like the b&j, when you open up a big boy everything seems to run on a bearing or a thrust race which has to help with drag a little as well, with customer service ive delt with mike at b&j excellent guy very helpful but also mat at lenco was really cool as well , pretty even in all areas except id saythe b&j just a little easier id give it a go.
    hope that helps
