How do you know how hot your engine (dry block-billet heads) is getting in the warm-up. Do you run it for a certain time and go by feel, or use temp gun. or and check heads ?? or wait till oil presure drops
    Any input would help.

Use a temp gun or by feel. You have to remember that the motor is going to continue to heat up after you shut it off plus the ambiet temps are going to make a difference on the rate it heats or cools down.

We run ours until the heads are 180* F, after shutting it off, it will heat soak up to about 200* F, seems to be happiest there :D

Bill Miller says that his rods are not to be run at heavy load or high rpm, untill the oil temp is a min of 125 deg F. He wants it around 200 deg F.

We put a temp sensor in the oil pan, I know that isnt totaly accurate as far as the head temps. We use the temp gone on the heads also.
Run one in the trans pan to to monitor it also.

We run two head and one oil temp senders to the data recorder. When the car is warmed up, the heads go to about 200 and depending on the outside temp, the oil will be about 100-125. After the initial run in, we let it heat soak and then it run it in again about 10-20 min later. The objective is to get the oil to about 150. This usually sets the temps for the rest of the day.
