I see TAFC and NFC run about the same numbers so if I want to run mid 5's which is the better route?

Not sure what you are comparing since to the best of my knowledge the A/Fuel funny car thing was canceled. I think it would add some new blood to the class.I can also see that some of the slower blown guys would quit. Having run TA/D wit h blower, owned and tuned TA/FC and now work with A/fuel team/ I guess I have halfass iunderstanding of both sides of debate.
Blown alky will run mid 5's with good tune and parts like valvesprings, rods and bearings. Springs can be weekly swap out .Rods little more life but not a ton. With rpm needed to get boost to make hp everything has shorter life.
Injected nitro. Parts last longer.Springs almost foreever. Rods pretty close to same.Cranks last longer than blower car. You will need bearings especially till you get good tune. figure new clutch pack every run and then regrind so grinder a must. Now the bite we paid 2l for 42 gallons at Gainsville and you will burn 5 to 6 gallons per run. Now running mid 5;s is pretty simple. We ran 5.36 at baby Gators with 3 or more dead holes past half track, Owner did buy a good car with good setup.

So pick your poision. No matter what anyone says you are going to spend good amount to go fast.It is just a matter as to were it goes. Speed is not cheap in any form and both of these choices run a butt load of cash,

    Enjoy

Just to clarify did you mean nitro funny car (NFC) or nostalgia funny car (NFC)?
