Have a blown BAE hemi that has a steel insert in the #1 plug hole, plug always reads warmer than the rest of the engine, was told by an experienced hemi guy that the insert can cause a false reading on the plug, any truth to this? Wishing i had a data logger to read the egt's but i dont.

Yes it will read warmer but will do it consistently and you can compensate for it in your readings.
