I was told at PRI the only thing that changed was the container and the label. JW

I called Brad Penn a few months ago and talked to them. They say there is no change in the oil formula.

If you have the original brad Penn 70wt and a bottle of the new stuff pour them side by side. You’ll see the difference! As for using it , it brakes down fast AF. You can’t boil it like before and the viscosity sucks at best. Brad penn wasn’t bought out by penn grade. They simply took over packing at a different refinery. But it’s drug Brad penn thru the mud so much that their engineers have taken all the formulas to joe Gibbs driven oil. The new oil will he called GP1.

OK so the "new" BP is or will be called GP1 made by Gibbs? I am not doubting anyone here but I am concerned again. I have just used the Kendall GT1 and Brad for everything I ever raced and just don't want to switch now. Jay what color is the new stuff that you are not liking?

In 2015 D-A Lubricant Company, Inc. acquisition of the Brad Penn Finished Lubes division from American Refining Group, Inc. was simply an ownership change. The renowned Pennsylvania Grade base oil cut utilized for over five decades in 'The Original Green Oil' formulation(s) is still present. The aforementioned base oil cut is simply purchased now from American Refining Group, Inc. (former Kendall refinery) in Bradford, PA and sent to D-A Headquarters in Lebanon, IN where it is utilized in blending. The finished product is packaged and ultimately provided to our loyal customers. It is important for me to share that although I am now an employee of D-A, I did have many years (14) of professional work experience for ARG / Brad Penn at the Bradford refinery........in both Production and Technical Services. As a matter of fact, I still reside in Bradford, PA.

When you manufacture the BEST high performance, classic, muscle, vintage, legacy, historic car and street rod engine oil in the market, you consistently remain a target mainstay for the ‘competition’. They look for any / all advantage and can resort to some devious measures…. all in the hope of providing their inferior product an edge. You can only imagine the apprehension instigated by the competition when the Brad Penn brand was initially sold and acquired……and the months following when D-A ownership decided to rename the product and re-design the quart bottle. Again, The 2015 D-A Lubricant Company acquisition of the Brad Penn Finished Lubes division from American Refining Group, Inc. was simply an ownership change. The renowned Pennsylvania Grade Base Oil cut utilized in 'The Original Green Oil' formulations for over 50+ years is still present. Do NOT let the competitor’s use of clever acronyms, ‘familiar’ terminology and carefully selected packaging steer you and your customers away from the ONLY engine oil they SHOULD be using!

One thing to always keep in mind with the PennGrade1 High Performance Oils……they have been around for 50+ years for good reason. Words like pride, passion, pedigree, legacy, heritage, loyalty, proven…….and my favorite…..protection…..best describe PennGrade1. Again…..PennGrade1 High Performance Oils were formally known as Brad Penn, and before that, Kendall GT-1 High Performance Oil. All of the product descriptions still apply:

    -‘The Original Green Oil’
    -‘50+ Years of proven performance’
-‘The Flat tappet / Roller Cam Oil’
    -‘Multi-Generational Lubricant’
    -‘Loyal following’

    Bobbi,

Let me ask you this because your response doesn't clarify it - is the additives package and the 'rest' of the oil the same as the Brad Penn oils from American Refinery? I understand the base stock is the same. If I had an old bottle of Brad Penn and a new bottle from DA, is the composition 100% the same?
