What is the average cost to insure a 140,000 car for on track incidents?

seriously, Jody, I had some on track insurance for the pro stock car we were messing with 4 years ago. It wasnt that much, the company had all kinds of options. I dont remember there name, located in michigan. thought they were in national dragster. Kincaid possibly.

To my knowledge no one insures race cars for "key on". They will insure it in your shop, in the trailer, in the pits, in the staging lanes. Once you are on the track and engine is running, all bets are off. I looked into it a while back, and all the race car ins. companies said the same thing.

yes they did, i could choose from the staging lanes, burnout, turn off or towing back to pits or anything in between. we had the car insured for being on the track. just the car, no drivetrain. It was a mountain motor pro stock. but dont know about now.

Jody, this is Jim in TN and I have full coverage on my ProMod except when running. They did not want to insure a short door car (on track racing) that runs supposedly fast. The agent is William Horton @ Drag Racer's Insurance in Meriden, CT at 888-901-3849. His e-mail is bill@dragracersinsurance.com and roughly 1.5% of the insured valve. I have had coverage for about 5 years and really good people to work with. He also insures race/toter trucks/trailers and content too-I hope this helps and one other agent in FL that used to race ProMods, but cannot think of his name now, but if Mr. Horton does not work out, I can get his contact name for you-BE SAFE! I get my policies from Chris Norris too...Off course and storage as well as liability...

Here is how my policies work:
Owner's & Sponsors liability policy is $1500 per year

Off course and storage policy (car not on the track) is $2500 per year and covers race car - trailer - all tools - spare parts - etc...total amount is approx $220K...(this includes every tool and machine in the shop)....I have a spreadsheet with detail of every item and it's location....shop/trailer/car....with serial numbers for everything that I can (blocks/heads/etc.)...also within the spreadsheet I have my cost along with the invoice date, invoice number, amount and vendor....pretty detailed in case of fire - theft - etc...

So for $4000 per season I think I am covered as much as possible.....some of this insurance is above and beyond what the track has....I send an updated spreadsheet to Chris every season....

The actual insurance company is K & K and Chris Norris is the agent....

Agreed on the Bill Lutz deal he would be the go to guy to ask.
I know it used to be available for on track use through him and others.... however there were a few dozen guys (and shops) who submitted some grossly inflated repair bills...they had screwed it up for everyone last I heard.

Here is the email addy for ontrack insurance from his YB postings,

    KENNY@COISERVICES.COM

Sadly though while getting this info I found out Bill is in really bad shape, I knew he had been in and out the hospital with Pancreatitis etc since April, but things this week have really taken a very bad turn for the worse (currently in ICU after surgery and then suffering a heart attack) so if you have a moment go over to the PM section at YB and send some prayers his way.

I will offer this. I worked in the insurance industry for 5 years. Nitro Madness is doing it the right way. If you are going to spend the coin on insurance. Take PHOTOS and document EVERYTHING. Keep every receipt of every part you want covered. The burden of proof is on the insured with any claim. Do not inflate the values of anything. If an insurance company gets any hint you are trying to inflate your loss in anyway they can become very hard to deal with very quickly. Make sure you understand the difference between Replacement cost and Actual cash value and what the policy covers.
