I've got a conventional headed BBC with new century aluminum block with new Titan 1100 pro series pump with .0045 clearance on the mains .0042" on the rods with .030" side clearance on grp aluminum rods and I'm running brad penn 60 et oil , when my oil temp gets to 180 deg I only have 30 psi @ 2000rpm and maybe 50 psi @ 5000 rpm ? Any ideas on how I can get more oil psi? Also it's a huh 14/71 blower motor.

How much oil are you running and how often are you changing it? Big difference if the oil is all new?

Have you tried adjusting the allen set screw that regulates pressure on the pump? Loosen the half nut on the allen screw, Turn it clockwise to raise, Titan says you can expect 3-5 psi change per turn.

Oil is new and clean with no dilution, 12 Qts of brad pen 60wt in the motor and 3 more in the accusump.

That's with 12 qts of fresh brad penn 60 wt. in the motor with no dilution and another 3 qts. In the accusump

And resetting the bypass I don't think will do anything for the hot oil psi . Bob at Titan originally set it at 90 psi and I have a that's about what I have cold

They sell different springs for the bypass. I got the top fuel spring in mine that is supposed to be 180 psi. But my Racepack says 140 or so. Starts up at 165 cold and drops warming up.

What pump are you running and what kind of clearances do you have including side rod clearances and is it 140psi hot???

Check for internal leaks. We had a aluminum bb chev that had a soft plug in the lifter galley by the distributor come out and had oil pressure drop similar to you.

Pressure is more about pushing volume and ability to oil.. Clearances would have more to with the actual weight of the oil. Granted, heavier oil = more pressure, but won't necessarily get in to tighter clearances. Run the same oil in TAFC Hemi with 130 psi in the lights.

As Dale mentioned, check for any internal leaks and make sure you're getting good drainback from the top end. Total oil volume should be enough, but if you're only circulating a small portion of the total volume, it will get hotter than expected and drop pressure.

I forgot to mention that I'm running spring oilers on this thing , has anyone had any experience with them and wondering if they might be affecting my hot oil psi , and also is it even possible to get a 100 psi oil pressure (hot) with a wet sump and bearing clearances over .0004" and side rod clearances of .030 or so????

I think that much oil psi with those clearances is entirely possible as long as the other oiling orifices are not allowing more oil to come out than the pump can put in the blocks passages. Maybe the spring oilers need reducing the orifice size at each spring or at the inlet to each spring oiler?

Yes I have same pump. 1100 gears smith nre heads that have oilers. New crank , rods , pump oil pan, Manton low ratio psi rockers . Rod clearance is .0055 mains is .004, .0045. A lot of oil goes up top. I've ran oil restrictors in the rockers but it's hard on roller tips and pushrod adjusters. Manton said to not restrict so I ended up drilling the block oil returns. Brad block was like .465 hole. Now it's a .520. Seems to of helped. But who knows. Can't get a real answer from anyone. Whats the difference doing that or a -8 line that can come loose and leak or cause oil under the tire

I have the spring oilers that go in between the valve cover gaskets. Had the same problem as you. lost almost half my oil pressure when oil got warm.
Orifices were .039 X 16. In the end I ended up with .013 X16, and now I only lose about 5 psi on idle, and no loss at rpm. When the oil is cold, it hardly dribbles out, but at 200 degrees, it shoots a good stream onto the springs. hope this helps. Tom.

I make them. 10x32x 3/16 long brass allen set screws. I have a set of pin drills that go down to .013. My oilers are plates that go between 2 valve cover gaskets. They have a pilot hole about 3/8 deep and the .039 orifice is drilled at the bottom of the hole. The pilot hole was the right size for a 10x32 tap.

I have the same issue with penn nitro 70 oil. and no other oil will do any better. I added a drain back from both valve covers to my 5 stage missile dry sump pump. may have helped a little. I think possibly limiting oil to the lifters may help. That's something I want to get feed back on also. but I run a kb hemi with stage5 heads and t&d rockers. I think the block expanding has a bearing on this also. Also isn't increasing spring pressure reducing volume? Running it a little fat will keep heat down at idle.
I am curious what others say also.
