I've not found them to be reliable and hence, not worth the effort.

Thank you all for the input....... I am used to using custom molded ear plugs now. I would like to have speakers installed or have new customs made with the speakers. Anybody use these? and if so let me know the company that did them for you... thanks again ITA Racers.

I tried the helmet speakers a few times. I could not hear the radio well enough so I went back to ear buds. Perfect clarity and plenty of volumn.

I am pretty sold on custom ear molds. I use custom ear plugs in the Race car now and love them. Great seal and I don't rip them out when putting on my helmet.

I've used custom ear molds as well as custom ear buds (molds being solid, buds have the speaker in them). I had the custom speaker buds made so I could hear better but after one pass i was back to the custom molds and using the helmet speakers. The buds allow you to hear the radio's way better but they let way too much noise in. After the burnout i knew they were not enough protection. Maybe there are better buds out there? It's def hard to hear with the helmet speakers and a blown hemi.

Blown HEMI in a TAD. I use the Fuze brand of custom ear mold. It comes with the ear buds and two part material to custom make the ear bud and fitted ear plug. Fits my ear perfectly, stops excess exhaust noise, perfectly clear radio and plenty of volumn. If the engine is not running and someone leans over you to talk to you, you can still hear them if they speak up. If the engine is running/idling the radio provides plenty of volumn that you may have to turn down if too loud. Probably other brands out there but this is the cheap one I tried and am very happy with. JMHO.

I would bet if you go onto some of the motorcycle forums you would get a lot of info about the helmet earbuds.

Whatever you were using had issues. Good proper working system wont have that problem.

As for hearing.... What to use for hearing is a driver preference kind of thing. There are two methods. Helmet speakers and earbuds. There are different levels of quality of both. There is also advantages and disadvantages to both.

How do you go about making ear molds ? Who sells a lot that would be able to put the speaker in them. I've used shop ear plugs and It helps but I want more protection. It's wicked loud on 2 step but by then I'm focused and don't really hear the engine but I know it too loud inside helmet.

Have your molds (ear impressions) made by an audiologist.Make sure they go past the 2nd bend in your ear canal. They might cost $30.00 I had molds made at PRI by eareverthing.com (Dawn is an audiologist) you can check the website. They will make you a set of in ear monitors from the molds that have drivers that are tuned for talking not music. I spoke with Dawn the owner quite a while and She seems to have good experience in the racing community and has a very good/durable product . I have had custom molded ear plugs made and custom in ear monitors for music but never for this application.. I have not had the actual monitors made yet but I can report back on how they work hopefully by Late April or early May.....

We had our first outing with the radios in the car. I am using custom in ear molds from Ear everything. They are fantastic. The radio sounds great and the noise cancellation is incredible. The molds are a little difficult to get inserted in your ear.. The only issue is if anyone is trying to talk you you as you are suiting up you can't hear them....
