Got myself a older rcd blower starter and it has a steel cage[mount];;is there enough weight decrease by going to a aluminum one to justify to cost?also who has best price on one?is there anyone else besides rcd that makes them that would be cheaper?so fare all found is rcd brand and best price been $255.00

Ours is steel and its an actual aircraft starter (bigger, heavier), my 7th grader has been starting me for a year or 2. I added a second handle and its much easier to do.

So my answer is no its not worth it.

I have one steel and one aluminum. There is no noticeable weight difference. I think the steel one holds up to abuse better also
