I may be getting to drive a blown alcohol funny car that runs on the 7.0 index. I know I need to have an advanced ET license. Do I need a SFI 15 or 20 fire suit? I need to buy one so I want to make sure I get the right one. Thanks guys.

I am only 95% on you needing the -20 i must say.

I drive a 7.0 blown alcohol front engine dragster and im required to use the -20 suit and funny car style boots.
I think, this is where my 5% uncertainty comes in, but i think if the transmission is covered from the driving area you would be allowed to use the -15

Id suggest finding a rule book and checking for sure before you go out and buy a new suit if your really worried about it. I would also suggest however that if you have the option of the -15 or -20 for your application to go ahead and just get the -20. Money allowing of course. Then no matter what driving gig comes around or go-fast parts you purchase you will already have the suit needed and wont have to buy another suit again.

    sfi 15 or 20

That's makes perfect sense, that way there would be no problems at all. You never know when NHRA might change the rules or a tech guy has a different interpretation of the rules. I was about 95% sure as well but if possible the 15 would be cheaper and more comfortable. Thanks for the input.

This is from the 2013 to 2014 NHRA Heritage Racing Series Rule Supplement Amendments :

You're also going to need a SFI Spec 38.1 head and neck restraint.

Well that pretty much covers it. Thanks for the info. Now I can go about getting what I need. I have the neck and helmet restraint, and the head sock. I will need the suit , gloves and boots. Thanks again.
