Are there any key differences between the Lenco CS2-3 and the B & J Big Boy? Quality? Passes before rebuild?

We ran the B&J in our roots-blown TA/D, but when we switched to the screw blower opted to switch to the Lenco. The heavy-duty B&J uses 3 small sprags in each unit, while Lenco offers the "helicopter sprag". A new Lenco costs considerably less than the B&J, and there are alot more fellow racers out there to get parts or technical help from. Also, I believe the Lenco reverser is a lot stronger.

    Good luck,

I know there's been discussions before comparing the two. I have two B&J *single sprag* trannies and have never come close to having any issues with them. I look at the sprags about once every race unless we shake the crap out of it, and once in a while I might stick a new one in. Maintenance is the key for either type, but I don't think one is better than the other.

Practically no one runs a B&J back east...

Fairly simple if you are on the east coast, run a lenco...

If you are out west, you have a choice between the two...

But for ease of borrowing parts on the east coast, it has got to be B&J all the way...

B&J's are in Cy Chesterman's car, Bucky's, Pat Austin ran them, Federlin, and we run them.

RE: BJ and Lenco. I have run both and had good results since both were properly maintained. I did find the Lenco a little quicker and simpler to service though. The Lenco seemed to take more abuse without sprag problems. Finally, Lenco seems to always have a good supply of parts and tech guys at the track. Just my opinion. EPS938

I reckon it's a matter of choice like whether you wan't blue paint or red,
They both do the same job and both will break if not maintained. lenco parts are easier to obtain in my experience,
