I'm looking at my BAE fatheads and noticed the headgasket blocks a bunch of open areas that could vent the lifter valley/crankcase. The gasket extends all the way to the intake manifold and the only way for crankcase pressure to reach the rocker area is around the pushrods and through the oil return passages.
If I wouldve noticed before the engine was assembled i'd vent the lifter valley at the front of the manifold instead of out of the valvecovers. Seems like everybody vents the engine at the worst place.

Flatout Gaskets #9136 are contoured in the valley area. I've used them for years.
