I'm running a blowen 548 ci BBC combo with a Merlin III Iron block. My question is, how much boost can I put to this block before I lift the heads and or spit the bottom end out? 10.0 to 1 pistons, ARP studs etc. I also have not filled the block yet. I'm not sure how much that helps? I shift @ 7500-7800. I just upgraded blowers and I'm a little concerned about how much overdrive to run as I don't want to destroy it.

I've been around 30 psi a few times with no problem, but that was at 6500 ft air. I don't know what it will make at 2000 ft. I'm guessing 34 ish? Will my Merlin take that? I'm not sure.

How much HP you're making certainly is part of determining the block you use, but the biggest unknown is how much you're going ot detonate. Detonating at 1500 HP is way harder on a block then a "happy" 1500 HP

I don't know what it makes for HP. 2250 lbs altered, runs 6.80's @ 200 at 6500 ft corrected. The plugs look nice and safe fuel wise and the timing mark is on the top side of the curve on the strap. It seems very happy now.....Just not sure how happy it will be at a lower elevation track with more boost. I have a fuel program so not worried about running it lean etc. Just not sure what kind of HP and or Boost the block is capable of holding.

Thanks Butch. I didn't think it would be that much, but cool anyway.
