Before I die I want to meet the sadistic SOB that invented Spiro-Locks!

Any frustrations you want to add?

Im not sure what you are building. On anything that has to come apart often as in TAFC or nostalgia fuel buttons are the only thing you have time for. You might be able to order buttons to fit or get some ordered too long and machine them.

The were originally designed for roadracing as far as I know because they thought clips would rattle out. I guess they would if the motor was detonating but thats a result not a cause
    Cheers

    I'm just venting.

I'm building five small block chevrolet stroker motors and spiro-locks actually work pretty well. I just don't have to like them if you know what I mean. After the fifth set you can get pretty used up.

I do miss just just sticking buttons in. Seems like they work work OK on the street but I have never attempted to do so.

Now if I could just find that other miserable SOB who figuered out people would pay to drag race.....................

    Smalley Spring

I don't like them either but I was visiting the guys that make these springs last week.
This link won't fix the issue but there is a tool available that might save some blood on your next removal.

Look on page 51 of their catalog. There ia a tool is shown on that page. Looks really light weight. I have never seen one. The pictures shows using it on an OD application.

Wow! That's way more information than I ever thought was available on Spiro-Locks. Thanks!

Actually they are really good locks and work well in a lot of instances. Once you get the rythym down you can put them in pretty fast and with not much problem.
