I have a N/A Injected Small Block Chevy, this is my first venture with fuel injection. I was wondering about setting my cam endplay, the engine is together so, can I just take some good meusurements with depth mikes and do the math or do I need to pull the intake so I can get a dial indicator in on the cam and move it back and forth? Flat tappet cam, Billet double roller with Torrington bearing, Enderle front cover, Enderle pump drive, Hilborn pump. What should I shoot for? Thanks

    Cam end play

Hi ! You don't want the axial bearings to be loaded all the time, so I suggest you shim the forward support to a clearance of something like 0.002" To make sure you get it right I think you should loosen up the valve adjusters, place a dial indicator at the front of the cam and then gently rock the cam forward / backward. I guess the intake must be off to give you a good place to put the prybar. Good luck.

I guess I'll need to pull the intake anyway, so I can get my indicator and prybar in with my pump mounted. Thanks osolberg

I've never done it but you might be able to reach in through the distributor hole to move the cam and push on front of cam through the pump hole? I've never done it, always cussed taking the intake off to check the endplay, I just thought of trying the above???
