A wise racer once told me it will start to come to the top at 200 and stop around 240.

alcohol starts to boil at 151°f
any thing above that speeds up the process
just gon't kill the oil with too high of temp

alcohol is hygroscopisch, so you have to boil also the water out of the oil!!!

    100% agree on that one.

You have to get rid of the water anyways. We use a cooking crock pot, I dont remember what temp it gets to, but it will roll the oil nicely.

moroso makes a really nice dry sump tank that has heaters in it, It gets up to 230 degrees in an hour and a half, thats the oils temp. So we never have to remove it from the car to remove the oil out of it.

    temp

We heat the oil to around 185 degrees. it gets a nice roll going and you can see the little slicks of methanol come to the top and evaporate. takes a couple hours. then we pour it through a paint strainer and reuse. We use redline 60w and get about 10-12 runs before we chuck it. Works good with Royal Purple as well although the Redline seems to be better oil (according to the parts).

Been doing this for about 6 years now with no ill effects. Just a little extra work but brings our cost per run for oil down to about 10 bucks.

We use brad penn and we see a black streak coming from every cyl going to the pan, looks like ring and sleeve material to me. I've heard the hellfire rings are pretty aggressive towards cyl walls but it still surprises me of how much we see.
