does anyone know of a simple test that can be done to determine the amount of moisture alcohol has been exposed to? How much if any will it affect the specific gravity? Ran out of fuel we buy in drums and bought some off track. Car fell off and we are thinking we may have got some bad fuel. Thanks.

At 77° methanol has a spec gravity of 786.51 where water has a spec of about 996

In theory if you have the spec gravity of your methanol at a specific temperature then you can determine the amount of water absorbed assuming of course that water is the only thing other than alcohol present. Some top end lubes will scew the spec gravity
