We're not getting any rpm data on race pak. Checked all connections, seems to be good. Can I hook the race pak to the 8973 rpm out put instead of having it hooked to the points box???

    Faulty racepak

Hi there, if you mean you are not getting any 'real' data on your system and just straight vertical lines etc then the system will need to be sent to Racepak for repair. We have had this problem twice where we blew a regulator within the unit (due to excessive charging voltage with the unit on). You only need one rpm source for the unit to operate correctly and that can be points, msd output, mag etc. Todd at Racepak is familiar with these types of faults and is very helpful. Cheers from New Zealand

Are you using a pick up with optical output? We had that issue and discovered the insulation hadn't been trimmed back far enough preventing fibre optic to sit in the socket on the Racepak properly.

I agree with thjths. More than likely you have shook loose the fiber optic pickup. Check that the fiber optic is seated properly. You may have to re-terminate it. We have dual pickups on our A/Fuel and shook both loose on the same run due to tire shake.

    Not the case.

This is a V300 no fiber optics involved. The V300 uses a MSD 8114 inductive pickup adapter for the magneto. The question is, can the V300 RPM input be driven by the 8973 programmable controller tach output?

Yes to your question on the RPM output of the 8973. The 8973 supplies the best source of engine RPM that can be used by Racepak.
