Super mag 3 to 5

I have been told that the super mag 5's are not worth messing with. I run a 3 now but have already bought some 5's and had them reworked by mallory and had planned on using them. Mallory told me the 3's put out 4 amps and the 5's put out 8 amps, so I should not run the motor with the 5's no longer than needed or it will burn the capacitors up. What should I use?
