AHRA San Antonio race canceled....why???

Got the official word this morning that the 1st AHRA Reunion tour race in San Antonio has been canceled.This race was to take place this weekend May 22-23.Our team was within hours of leaving on a 25hr drive to be part of that race.Seems like there is any number of reasons for the race to be canceled.First one was weather??? WOW its 6 days from race day...how the hell can it be weather?? Extended forecast was 10% chance of rain friday thru sunday normal texas weather.Second reason thats floating around was low car counts.Well i personally talked to the CEO of the AHRA and he had said that there would be anywhere from 12-14 top fuel cars,and that wasnt even counting my teams entry.So that leaves us with the most logical reason that has been heard and it is $$$ or should i say the lack of it.Any way you shake this deal it smells bad,and doesnt show good for the AHRA.I can only hope the AHRA does a little regrouping and makes the rest of the Reunion tour happen.

 

Just be happy that you weren't halfway there when you got the word, i read on another board that they didn't pay the booked in fuel cars in Midland, Texas. They were told that the money would be wired to them in the future, hopefully that's a one time thing....

 

Rumors are that Calgary has now been canceled? Just rumor at this point but maybe some one can chim on and confirm this or not?

Money down the drain

I talked with a couple of "Pros" who had already spent big bucks to make the SA race. AHRA was WAY late in letting people know they weren't going to run the race. Many were already on the way.
