    Throttle stop

If your using it just for burnouts just use a small piece of aluninum c channel & use a quick release pin to take it off after the burnout. It is easy to set rpm by adding or removing small washers under the stop. If you send me a e-mail@tafc325@gmail.com I can send some pictures better than I can describe it. or call shop 636-665-5171 I will be there today CST 8 to 3

you will want the car to be in second gear for the burn out.

    burn out

some like to come to a stop and collect themselves, then race the rpm and dump the clutch. Personally I've always drove thru the water and drive rpm up to where I like it,7000, Afirm constant rpm is prefered. Try not to be up and down on the throttle. It can cause problems from driveline to belts and valvetrain.. For better control,A pedal that pivots in the middle allows toe to heel feel, and more comfortable control. It does allow for more pedal ratio so it may be a reaction time problem later. Also, I back up in low gear because it is less likely to lock up getting into reverse if its already in low... and have a signal from crewchief to be sure you are in low and forward before moving into staging. Also before we start the car, I keep 1 glove rolled up as a reminder to tell me the air is on and pins out of fire system then roll the glove out to the sleeve.I think the number 1 parts killer for new teams is the air bottle not getting turned on. I can't stress enough to do everything the same everytime she gets in the car so nothing gets overlooked.Good luck and enjoy the ride!!
Maybe someone else can remember their first time doing a burn out..that could be interesting reading.

I like to roll all the way through the water and lightly wap the throttle and hold it at 7,000. I think rolling through the water with some light speed helps keep the car going straight.

    from a stop

I've found it's easier to teach new drivers to do a burnout on a blown car by having them stop, bring it up to about 4000 for a brief second, then just dump the clutch and get a feel for what the motor does there, trying to keep it around 7500-8000.

In the long run it will be better to have a few ugly burnouts in the beginning and teach her how to do a burnout than get used to a throttle stop. then you have one more thing to forget to take off, or if it gets left off, the motor will go to the moon before they realize there's no stop.

What she'll probably notice is she'll be able to hold the pedal in the same position for the first second or so as the car gets going, gradually roll into the throttle to keep the burnout going as long as you need/want.

    burnouts...

    well, my two cents...

my dad, Harry, has been driving for over 50!! years now. he taught me and my bro to roll thru the water, rap the pedal to run the tires in the water to get them wet ALL the way around, then roll a few feet and once again rap the pedal lightly to get them burning, then just feather the pedal and try to keep the Rpm's level and the car stright. By rolling, there is no sudden whip to the drivetrain, the axles or driveshaft, and will help you keep the car starighter. yeah, there are 1000 different ways to do one, and everyone has his/her own way. I have a Crowerglide, no foot pedal, so I don't have to swap feet. and yes...longer is fun and people love them. No RPM control, no tach, no throttle stop, just my right foot and listening to the motor. I've been driving for 11 years now, so far, so good!

Then when your done do some dry hops. JK Some people in the crowd like them but it makes me laugh. I mean seriously, why do people still do that? It just kills your drivetrain and does no good to your tires. I might see it more than the top alcohol guys b/c I run more nostalgia stuff. I shake my head everytime I see it.

Mike, next time you talk with Vic, ask him where his throttle stop went and how the throttle cable got bent :D
Between you and me, Some how it grew wings a went flying across the parking lot and into the woods at lebanon valley next to the starting line and has been there for 4-5 years now, but he don't know that ;)

Remember to try and not to pedal it in the burn out..seems to be real hard on burst panels...Dave

Nostalgia stuff is all we run and yes the crowd loves dry hops. We have run at several tracks that will ask you to do dry hops to shake the rocks out from under your car. Yes we run on some what shoud I say [ back woods ] tracks. We match raced with a original AFX car before and we both were doing long burnouts and long dry hops and the crowd was on their feet was a great day. Drive train, Tires, heck if you are running nostalgia you know its a no win money wise hobby, build heavy and have FUN. Our driver pedles alot on the burnout and I just grit my teeth waiting for the BOOOOOOOM but again its the crowd and Larry loves it.

Long burnouts are for the drivers and fans to enjoy. The motor, tires, and crew chief hate them. ;)

    Lord Lorenzo

I'll ask him to borrow his throttle stop!!
    1-Dry hops are fun!
2-Long burnouts, done right, are more fun than the run itself.
3-I am the crew, and I help pay for the tires, clutch, upkeep.

Merry Christmas to the whole family on here, you guys and girls are the nicest and best people!!
