    Rain Dashes Team YNOT’s Plans

Reading, PA Mother Nature at times can play cruel tricks on human beings. That what has happened with the TOYO Tires NHRA Nationals in Reading, PA.
After raining out part of Sunday (right before the second round of alcohol) and then allowing a brief window on Monday when only one round of racing took place, raining again just before the third round for the alcohol cars. The rains came again and stayed until early Wednesday morning. Racing then was continued and the event finished.

There was talk of either moving the event to Indy and finishing it up at the U.S. Nationals Test, which is occurring this week, or just equally divide up the points and the money amongst the remaining competitors and call it good, but both of these ideas were squashed and it was decided to wait out the weather no matter how long it took.

Unfortunate for Team YNOT, like a lot of other teams, many of the crew people had to leave after Monday and get back to their “other” jobs. Team owner/driver Jim Whiteley had to be at previously scheduled business commitments, in Oklahoma on Wednesday that could not be changed so the decision was made to load up and head for home, and having to settle for a semi final round finish.

The team will return to the shop, and get ready for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Division Seven event to be held at the world famous Famoso Dragway in Bakersfield, California on September 7th and 8th. This is the final Division Seven event for the year. Whiteley still has a chance to capture the Division Seven title at Bakersfield, or at two more out of division races he has available to him. Point’s leader, Duane Shields, has a 64 point lead but has only one race left to claim, thus making the competition for the D7 title very interesting. Stay tuned to see what happens.

Team YNOT would like to thank Permatex, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, Valspar/House of Kolor, J&A Service, Raptor Industries, Advanced Oil Field Services and Impact Race Products for their continued support.
