according to DragRaceCentral, Mark Niver is the #5 qualifier today by virtue of taking the green.

Does this mean he will at least get first round loser money for his troubles?

If Mark Qualified, and could not return he will get paid first round money and qualifying points. If the alternate wins first round the alternate will recieve second round money. alternates gain no points though, even if they win the race.

I thought NHRA rules stated that you had to stage the car. Unless that's for second round on? Someone fill me in please?

I believe you have to be on the property to be paid- Racers are not paid to qualify but are paid by the round- ex.- first round loser. Happened in Div 6 that way last year.

i know last year in bristol, we found a crack in the chassis about an hour before first round and elected not to run. (right next to where the front wing strut attached). we got first round money and points. we asked bill holt if we needed to stage and he said no.
