    NHRA banned it from competition about 3-4 years ago. But depending on who you talk to is worth about a tenth over the "D" blower everyone's using.

    The GIZMO:

    A/F racers think it's the end of injected nitro racing!

    BAD racers think it's the magic answer they've been waiting for!

    J/K!

    It's a supercharger improvement that raises the performance a bit and reduces the wallet a bit more.

    Fuel cars, I know a couple of Blown Alky Dragboats that put the "GIZ" on their motors. They couldn't believe the difference! Tim Stokes put one on his Widowmaker and has run .14 quicker than he ever had.

    Boats have very little relevance in comparison to wheel driven vehicles when it comes to comparing ET- BUT- did he raise his MPH significantly? That would show a HP increase I would think! don't beat me up if I am off base here [IMG]
    (I make this statement on the observance that boats do not measure ET from a standing start- correct?)

    The Gizmo is atleast a tenth quicker than the best
    "D" blower out there. With Jay Meyers car we ran a 5.41 our first race out with the Gizmo, pretty
    effortlessly. We only had it for three races; if we had more time to work things out I believe it
    could have gone in the twenties on a regular basis.

    Like I was saying I'm new , so with that said why the hell are there parts out there that will turn tad/tafc into a monster and not use them. Iknow that there is a thinning of the wallet but isn't there always something to spend it on. It seems that every time you turn around there is a gidget or gadget that is worth a tenth (the guy who sold it told me so) that doesn't work or is marginal why not spend the dollars on proven gains. Just curious to see what you guys think on this.Thanks JDD

    The Gizmo is illegal because the NHRA said they wouldn't allow it. One of their reasons for this declaration is that they want to hold down the cost of racing for the TA teams. But, the BAD drivers feel it's what they need to run competitively with the AFD cars.

    BTW, the NHRA had the opportunity to allow the Gizmo last year but chose instead to add weigh and CID restrictions to the AFD cars.

    How can a GIZMO been identified!
    Does it looks different to a “D” blower?

    Thank you for the reply Will!
    You mentioned that a GIZMO only can be identified by a template;
    does this means that the helix or size of the rotors is different.
    - so a GIZMO is not easy to identify and good for at least a tenth, but illegal;
    were can I get one??????????

    You won't find any running in NHRA competition. NHRA is constantly checking for the gizmo. If they are legal where you're at, call PSI, Norm or Roger @ (480) 820-6511.

    The rotor are night and day . all you have to do is look at them. The rotor are bigger and the profile is different.

    ch3no2,
    If you are accusing someone, come out and do it. Jim Collins(NHRA Tech) & others keep a pretty constant vigile for the gizmo. I can't speak for every blown car, but since switching to the screw-blower (two years ago), I have been randomly checked 5 times, and every time they seal the blower and put their tech sticker on it.
    As a matter of fact, we were checked right before we ran the 5.29 @ 270.70 pass at Joliet last fall. Since that is the fastest a blown alcohol car has ever gone, and it was verified that it was with an legal "D" PSI blower, what evidence do you have that somebody is running a "C" PSI?
    Play nice!
    Marty
