Whats a new TA/FC cost??

    Curious what you think a new TA/FC would cost ready to go down the track???

    Two ways to look at it, actual cost of going down the track without hurting parts, or, total costs of the operation divided by runs made for the season, the second way would shock most folks

    costs-

    Let us put it this way- rumors are that current rental-seat costs are 7000-10,000 per weekend to rent a competitive TAFC/TAD. I don't know if there are profits built into that cost. Apparently lots of guys find that the cheapest way to go. Dave Germain

    We also need to ask if you want to wear a single digit on the car next year, or if you want to go to a few local races and run decent. The prices are VERY different.

    I was looking for a ball park figure of build costs for a top notch car.
    Yes, single digit car.

    We can put most of it together so I guess mainly what parts prices would add up to.

    Yeah, a car ready to go vroom once is gonna be in the 130-150K range. But that is no spares, no truck/trailer, no tuning, no crew, etc. Just a good solid new car with a good set of pieces to go one run.

    probably even a little more than that. new rolling chassis with body mounted, tanks, tins, cables controls, windows, wheelie bar spoiler, wheels tires rearend and brakes will set you back about 75k, + 40k for a new motor, + 10k for a blower 3k for ignition 5k+ for injector and fuel system 4k for a bellhousing 7k for a clutch, 6k for a tranny 10k for a racepak, ..........

    That's over 160k right there and still no blower restraint, shut off system, driveshaft, trans blanket, paint job...... the little stuff really adds up. And that is all figuring you put it together yourself.

    feeding it costs about 1000 per run.

    whatever you decide and figure out you think it will cost, probably about 40-60% more than that...

    Steve Harker recently advertised his TAFC which was a top 5 car for $130K turn key, no spares.

    An 'average' competitive car with relatively new parts and pieces will go $80-100k depending on how new it is and how motivated the seller is.

    A number of variables come into play on the cost to run them. Once you figure it all up, without a tuner, you are probably closer to $1500 a pass to be competitive. I'm not saying it can't be done for less, you just have to be really smart where and what you spend your money on.

    Unless you have some experience running a Top Alcohol car, I would recommend hiring a tuning consultant to get you off the ground. New guys typically spend money where they don't need to, then don't spend it where they should be spending it. When you start adding the cost per run up, a tuner/crew chief starts to pay for themselves if it gets you up to speed quicker.

    Generally if you can find a turn key, competitive operation, those are the best options because you get a proven deal, and you can usually hire whoever was running the car to get you up to speed and familiar with everything.

    I wish i had a ta/f..it would be SOLD...lol.. just jokin if you look in the classified the patron car is up for sale and it is a very nice car..take a look make offer it said..good luck hope you find what you want. dave

    If you are ready to spend $500,000,+. You may make the top ten, if you make the right choices in car and crew :D. If you can afford to loose that $500,000, then go for it!! It will be the best money you ever spent.
