My Blower Belt is tracking to the back of the pulleys when turned clockwise, and tracking to the front when turning counterclockwise. Just turning slowly by hand. I have just not come up with a good positive way to check if the blower pulley is parallel with the crank or is off putting a slight twist in the belt. It sure looks ok.

I thought the idler was not lined up but since the belt moves front and back with the rotation change it seems the blower not parallel with the crank is the problem.

New pulleys. New Belt. 14mm. Smooth idler running on the inside of the belt. Should I use a toothed idler with 14mm?

Do you just skate the blower around until the belt tracks straight when turning and then weld and redrill the stud holes in that location? That is my thoughts at this point.
Blower engine is a new deal to me. Thanks for any input and experience.

Have you used a straight edge to check the pulleys ?? The other thing is you can't judge this by just turning the motor over by hand ------ get yourself a long straight edge that will reach across both pulleys.

    Mark,

You are saying the belt walking just turning by hand does NOT tell me there is alignment issue? I will try to verify with long stright edge.
    thanks.

That is correct. Get a straight edge and hold it against the face of the pulleys top and bottom, then check the idler from the top and bottom. You may have to shim the idler out or cut the spindle to move it in closer.
Make sure you have the spindle in the idler pulley correctly as some brands of pulleys have the bearing offset in the pulley to accomodate several combos.
