    I loved it

That was great. More truth in it than a person can imagine. By the way go to Competition Plus' Drag Racing Magazine to see the full article about the NHRA and the IRS. It's interesting reading. Dave Germain

Heres the funny thing, I have been on facebook asking NHRA to say something about all of the IRS stuff and what not. So then I put this link on there page and they removed everything that I have ever posted on there page, Including everyones comments about what I put up there........... Damage control????

lmao,...I too was removed from the Nhra FaceBook,..I dont know why,..I have paid a yearly membership fee, along with the fee for adv et nhra comp license for over,... well a long time.
I guess the paying member cant have an opinion, suggestion, or comment.
To think this is one sided is an understatement,...

I for one had no idea that NHRA was claiming to be a non profit.
The NHRA could not have been a non profit at least since it was sold to the R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company that may still own it today through the RJR-owned Sports Marketing Enterprises.
This was done without a vote by the membership. I think this happened in 1976 When it first became Winston Drag Racing.
I also had no idea that being an executive or board member at NHRA could be so lucrative.
"It also maintains that compensation for the organization's management is out of whack with heads of similar tax-exempt associations. That includes a salary of $771,632 for president Thomas Compton in 2008 and $319,073 for one hour of work per week for board chairman Dallas Gardner, which the complaint says is well beyond industry standards."
"The complaint also contends the NHRA is run by a select group of individuals rather than its members, which don't have voting rights."
This could spell the end of the NHRA if they have to go back and pay taxes for all of those years. The penalties fees and interest alone could be the ton of bricks that broke Smoking Joe's back.
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. The IRS being greedy beyond belief and not caring who or what is destroyed to feed.
The rebirth of grass roots drag racing will be the result. Where people can again race cars instead of racing pocketbooks.

I for one have always supported the NHRA and I am proud to have been a member since 1982.

Or just type NHRA IRS into your browser you get a page full of hits
