Rain delayed WAR Thunder Nationals shortened due to deteriorating weather conditions.

West Olive, Michigan May 16, 2005 – Falling temperatures and their effects on the track conditions forced the cancellation of the WAR Thunder Nationals. After a steady downpour of rain that lasted from early morning until noon, the sun finally came out and allowed the racing action to begin. Due to the rain delay, we were forced into having only one qualifying shot which gave all of the race teams a disadvantage. All of the teams did an incredible job getting down the track, but with less then perfect temperatures and track conditions, the performance level was low. Chris Foster led the qualifying in Funny Cars with Low ET and Top Speed at 5.95 @ 238. In the Dragster category, Bob Ginther was number one qualifier with Low ET and Top Speed of 5.94 @ 240 mph. Dennis Radford, driving Ed Steffey’s beautiful new Corvette, was the number one qualifier in the Pro Mod ranks with Low ET and Top Speed of 6.34 @ 220 mph. Shortly after the first round, the temperature dropped into the low 50’s and the track condition was not up to par for these high horsepower racecars. After consideration of several factors, including the safety of our racers and fans, the decision was made to have the semi finalists in each category make a half track pass to put on a show for the fans. The prize money was split between all of the semi finalists in each category. A complete list of the qualifiers and ladder sheets can be found on our website at www.worldalcoholracers.com
