I have been trying to get my SBC in my boat tuned properly.

406, littlefield 6-71 delta bottom, 21 percent over with a buzzard catcher and zoomies. I just had my magneto serviced and finally got it installed and working correctly (I think).

When I was running it today (adjusting the barrel valve trying to get it to idle without hunting or milking my oil) I noticed that the breather was letting out more than it has in the past. It even melted my breather a little bit.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks, Ryan

I'm running pretty well the same combo in my dragster....sbc 26 over 6-71, etc., Every pass it dumps about a quart into the puke tank...I just drain it each round and put it back in. Are you using a puke tank and proper burn-down tubes from the valve covers? I don't think it's anything to worry about, as long as you continue to keep the oil level topped up.

You could weld a small baffle in the breather to keep the splashing that's occurring from going back to the puke tank.

I am not getting much oil in the puke tank. I was getting some "steam", if you want to call it that. I think it was because I had the barrel valve a little too lean at idle.

Hopefully this alky tuning will become a little easier for me after some time.
