Just got my new combo running,14/71 littlefield k-11, new B&U hat and new 990 pump. BBC 509. Problem: after doing my burn out I cant get the idle to come down, was hanging up around 3 grand, had to shut it down by shutting the fuel off. started it back up and idle was down, backed it up and staged, car left hard. What would make the trottle hang uplike that and the butterflies are closed, tried to pull up on the pedal but did nothing. Seems like it had a air leakat the hat but cant find anything. Starts great and has no issues warming it up at all, just when you hit it, throttle hangs alittle, after the burnout it hangs alot! ports check is at 20 psi, idle 8 psi return check 130 psi. Could I have a leak at the hat only after I hit it and not at idle? any help would be appreciated.

If there was an air leak between the hat and the blower then it would be there all the time and you would never be able to slow it down. When it is idling fast at 3000 rpm have you tried pushing the butterflies closed by hand and does that slow it down?

No not at that time Mike, by the time my crew guy got to me I had shut it off and restarted it,I noticed when warming it up in the pits that ,if you wack the trottle alittle its fine, but if you slowly increase the throttle alittle and wack it, it hangs up in rpm alittle and comes down slow. when it did that I was pushing the butterflies shut but it didnt matter? I thought the same thing about it leaking between the hat. Could the port check be sticking open?

check for dragging butterflies. You might have to loosen the allen screws and tap on them a little to get the blades perfect. I had the same issues after I anodized a set of blades.
Did you get that bullet cam installed in there?

Thanks Guys, I believe I have a issue with my throttle pedal not having enough geometry. I have just enough room to get the ACD air cylinder on the ball at the hat, and still get full throttle at the hit. I need to change it because I believe it is holding by butterflies open alittle on the burnout. Thats the only thing I can see that is close to giving me my issue. Butterfly gap is .008 on all three.thanks Vinnie DiRose.

Hey Mike, Bullet still has the cam, i'm still running my 509 BBC for this season, next will be the 540 BBC. The new K-11 was the trick for sure, A small hit @ 34% over and it went 5.0 at 400 FT. Will definitly go in the high 4's @ 3506 lbs, very happy. thanks Vinnie.
