    bob,

both can be ran with tubes and liners. the word on the street is you can run the m/t with a beadlock and not have the tireshake that happens when you try to run a hoosier on a beadlock. the m/t has a much stiffer sidewall.

as far as bite characteristics go, supposedly the m/t is like the goodyear 1390, which allows you to have a 'controlled spin' through low gear. the hoosier just straight hooks. whichever works for your combination.

as far as tubes/liners - original goodyear tubes are a rare commodity, and most of the ones you find are wore out. we had quite a stockpile to get us through last year on jason's car, and are switching over to the taylor tube and valve set up. it is a m/t tube with a new valve that essentially performs the same function as the serrated valve on the goodyear tube. many people are running the new hoosier 'tubeless' liner with a tube. this is accomplished by putting an air tank valve inbetween the bead of the tire and the liner to control outer tire pressure while using a conventional tube in the liner.

    pick your poison...lol

This totally depends on which brand of tire you are going to run and where you are going to race. I know that Hoosier in the Midwest will not mount any brand of tires that use the Taylor tube, too much trouble with them. What is suggested is to get new wheels if you want to run liners and run the Hoosier tubeless liner and tire or drill your wheels you have now for the second stem and buy the regular tubes.Alot of guys are going the second way due to the cost of new wheels. The Mickey's seem to be doing fine on beadlocks and Hoosier is working on a stiffer sidewall tire also. Goodyear has a hard time even saying liner now that they quit making them. I even know of guys that run Mickey's wanting to run liners and tubes in them also. You just have to find what works best with your car and go with that. Either way you decide I just hope it works for you.

Am I wrong in assuming that if you drill your wheel that the SFI is no longer in effect?

    traveler,

when the taylor tube first came out, the problem was the tube was slightly too big. depending on your liner type, taylor now has two tubes he offers in his kits and has had no problems since.

I know the size of the tube caused a balancing problem and am glad to hear they got it fixed, but i also know people had a lot of problems with the stem leaking and not being able to get a quick fix at the track without spending a lot of money for another tube. As far as the SFI goes on the wheels, I wonder what the difference is in putting bead screws in all the wheels? I would think if anything will make the wheel weaker it would be having half of the bead seat area missing? Oh and don't get me wrong, I am not trying to talk anyone out of buying any product out there, I am just stating what I know and trying to help them to know what is available. I am keeping an open mind to all the products and hoping not to sound like I am bad mouthing any of them.
