I know asking which is better is opening a can of worms--for pulling a 40 foot goose-neck trailer, is one brand 1 ton dually better than another?
Do any of the advertised mileage enhancing products really work?
Not looking at purchasing new ( or in the next few months).
    Thanks!

Not a Dodge. A Powerstroke Ford has plenty of power as well as the Chevrolet Duramax.

I have big praises for my Duramax. Pull a 48ft all over the country, actually own 4 of them now for my shop. Chipped up makes a bunch of power w/decent mileage. Avg 10mpg pulling trailer and 19 w/o.

I wouldn't recommend the Ford. My 2004 Powerstroke is terrible on fuel but has plenty of power.

I have heard that the Dodge gets the best mileage but the dually mega cab only comes in short bed is really ugly. I like my hitch ball in front of rear axle and this becomes almost impossible without offset gooseneck hitch. (I hate these things) Need the clearance to turn trailer with the short bed ball location.

I don't think that there are any of them that can't be chipped up to give you the power you need.

I have ridden alot of miles in all 3 over the years and like the GM the best. Pulled 50' trailer with 2 cars and living quarters to several IHRA nationals. No problems with power. The interior has good layout and really comfortalbe on long rides. The Duramax / Allison is a good combination although I would prefer Cummins / Allison.

Look around the pits, all I see are alot of Duramax/Allisons. We bought one and pull a 89' Chaparell loaded to the gills. 55 mph over the Shastas, 55mph over the Grapevine. 70mph in 6th gear on the flats getting 12mpg. Best thing we ever bought.

Duramax/Allison is the only way to go. Stock I can do 70mph uphill, downhill and on the side of it. I get about 12mpg with a 50' Performax.
